The DICE Forum, in collaboration with the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, organised a high-level seminar on “Climate Change and Inclusion” at Governor House Peshawar. The event brought together policymakers, climate experts, parliamentarians, development practitioners, business leaders and civil society representatives to discuss inclusive approaches to climate resilience and sustainable development.

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Faisal Karim Kundi attended the seminar as Chief Guest and highlighted the urgent need to address the growing impacts of climate change across the province, including floods, droughts, glacial melt and changing weather patterns. He emphasised the importance of people-centred and inclusive climate policies that integrate resilience, social equity and sustainable development, while ensuring the participation of women, youth and local communities in decision-making processes.

The seminar marked the beginning of a broader series of expert roundtable discussions on climate change being initiated by the DICE Forum. Chairperson of the DICE Forum Aliya Agha said the initiative aims to place inclusion at the centre of climate governance and promote evidence-based dialogue on adaptation, disaster risk reduction and sustainable livelihoods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

A panel discussion was also held during the event, where experts shared recommendations and practical insights on addressing climate-related challenges. Speakers including Shagufta Malik (Former MPA), Dr. Rabia Gul (Gender Expert), Dr. Sumera Shams (Chairperson KPCSW), Dr. Khalid Khan (Climate Expert), Dr. Zubair Khan(Climate Expert), Ms. Arjumand (Climate Expert) and Engineer Ahmad Jan Khan (Former Minister) highlighted the importance of gender-responsive climate governance, community-based adaptation strategies, climate-smart agriculture, sustainable water management and improved access to climate finance for vulnerable communities.

Participants also stressed the need to strengthen disaster preparedness systems, support local resilience mechanisms and improve coordination among government institutions, academia, the private sector and development organisations.

During the event, awards were presented to Azmat and Muhammad Hilal Khan in recognition of their humanitarian services, particularly for saving lives during the 2025 floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The seminar concluded with a collective call for continued collaboration among public institutions, private sector partners and policy platforms to advance inclusive climate action and build long-term resilience in Pakistan.
